nBooks data is stored on UK-based servers, built on open-source foundations - you can export your complete financial data at any time, no fees, no lock-in.
nBooks is cloud-based accounting software for UK sole traders and micro-businesses, built around HMRC’s Making Tax Digital API for VAT. Features include direct MTD VAT submission, professional invoicing with PDF generation and email delivery, bank reconciliation and multi-currency support. Corporation Tax (CT600) and Self Assessment (SA103/ITSA) are planned and not yet built. Priced at £15/month with a 30-day free trial when nBooks returns.
Yes — nBooks submits VAT returns through HMRC’s Making Tax Digital API. It is not HMRC recognised and does not appear on HMRC’s list of compatible software. Our compatibility statement sets out exactly which endpoints are implemented.
